For those of you who own or have owned a 6.5-06 with a 18-20” barrel.

-What kind of velocity can I expect from a 140 class bullet?
-What powders have been best?
-Could I form 6.5-06 brass from 270 cases?

I had a 6.5-06 with a 26" barrel. 3300fps with a 120gr maker trex. It was loaded over published max col. I used 270 brass just resized it with the sizing die you might have to trim if it's Ben fired. I used H4831.

You should expect about 2900 fps from an 18-20" barrel.

The best powder for me was RL26. Others with similar burn rates, such as H1000, Retumbo, RL22, and Ramshot Magnum, work well, too.

Using 270 brass works excellently, but you must trim it first. The 270 has a longer neck than 30-06 or 25-06.
