Just finished my first semi custom black tail gun
It’s a Remington 700 action blue printed, timny trigger, 26” Lilja barrel with a Leupold vx5 scope
Shooting 143 ELDX at 3000 fps

can't do much better than that for a blacktail rifle, i like it!

one of these days i want to build a 257WBY for blacktail, bear, and lions.... started as an impulsive want, and shopped every single rifle in that cartridge, and there is nothing that really interested me.... weatherby backcountry Ti is close, but for that price i could do a semi custom build and build it a little more personalized.

out of curiosity, what does your rifle weigh scoped and loaded? that's a cool setup!

I started out with the weatherby ultra lightweight and shot a few animals from 110 yds to over 300 yds with the 120 Nosler partition and the blood shot meet was horrible… just my experience

yeah, i have seen that with the little quick bullets.... everything is a balancing act and a compromise. i was thinking hammer bullets will be my first stop on bullet choice.
