Hi roksliders i have a cva paramount .45 cal and live in the great state of Commiefornia and have to shoot copper. Anyone know of a copper bullet to bore for a muzzleloader, i do not want to use a sabot as that defeats the purpose of a semi premium muzzy.
Thanks!

Barnes. And you could shoot a 40cal Barnes with a sabot and be just fine. You might need a sizing die tho for best fit

Barnes TEZ, possibly Bear Creek Ballistics (I just received some of these but have not tested them yet).

Arrowhead and Parker don’t make monometal bullets. You’ll have to shoot a Barnes or something like a Cutting Edge. But….good luck getting them to shoot well bullet to bore. Most guys have poor luck. You can try annealing them and using a wad will probably help.

I’d use a sabot.

Not to be combative, but I'm actually interested in your why here. This statement sounds both more like a flawed assumption and a subjective opinion, than it does fact. What exactly is your reason for being interested in a bullet-to-bore setup, over a sabot?

Bullet to bore from what ive seen are very accurate, and with a muzzle brake i cannot run a sabot

IMO, shooting sized bullets won’t really benefit you till way beyond 300 yards. For hunting inside 300, sabots are a better choice.

Which all copper would you go with, cutting edge? Barnes?
I’ve shot lots of Barnes in sabots and sized in my .45s. In the CEs, I’ve only tried them in sabots (with so-so results). From my experience, you’ll probably have an easier time getting the Barnes to shoot well. The .45 Paramounts have a 1:22” twist barrel, IIRC. You won’t be able to go too long on your bullets. My barrels are faster at 18 and 20 twist.
