Success at last. Two pair of Simms 13s were a bit tight, but barely. Flyweight more so than G3. Tried Orvis 13 and was tightest of bunch, But the most uniform snugness. A 14 G3 I’m afraid would have been too big. I 14 flyeight might worked, But after feeling the construction of the Orvis 13, I like to try it in a 14.

Got me a winner.

Brother-in-law has exact same foot he likes them as well.

Glad you like them!. I have put some miles on my orvis ultralights and they simply feel like a quality hiking boot. Every foot is different but the support and construction is phenomenal while being almost as light as the flyweight

I liked the taller flyweight, but the sidewalls kinda thin and boot just squeezed my paddles too much in toe.

G3’s seemed the most rugged, but the 13 was barely too small and I’m sure the 14 would have been too roomy. The 14 ultralight seemed to be a great compromise of durability and weight. And Most Importantly it fit the best. It’s not very often I buy something and I’m happy with it. Kind of a nice surprise.

The cushioning in the Orvis up top was also very nice. I could feel my ankle balls taking pressure on the Sims

Yeah. I eyeballed them compared to G3’s and that was another concern.

I'm pretty surefooted. But I've walked back to the truck with waders full of river water a handful of times in those boots. I put studs in them a few weeks back.

Just tried a thin pair of wool socks under some knee high sealskinz and the fit is almost perfect. The thinnest foot covering system I’ll ever have in them. Same boots also work with thick socks and G3 waders. If these socks perform as advertised I’m good to go for dry days or areas not requiring waders. May skip the Chota tundras. Excited.

FWIW…. Anybody with a wide, flat 11.5 inch foot, a 14 Orvis ultralight is a great fit!

I’ll let y’all know though. I plan to have thin to medium merino socks on me, and then the sealskinz before wading boots or croks (I think) at camp.

Messing around in some of the new gear. Currently filling up the bathtub. Gonna stand there for quite a while see how the socks do. Obviously not a hunting situation but a better test than nothing. I’ve got a place here in Florida that I like to hunt in January. It’s very wet. I will wear them in the waiting boots and see how things go
