I usually carry but with everything going on I've been carrying my BG .380 or LCP everywhere I go. I was looking to get some new carry ammo for it and came across this ammo.

Now I carry critical defense 380 but this ammo looked interesting. I'm more a bowhunter and that's where most of my energy goes into but I was wondering what some of the gun guys thought of this load and how hard it'll kick out of a small pocket pistol. Looks like a ~30% increase in energy.

The Ruger safety manual states that the LCP and LCP II are not rated for +P ammo.

If you like your fingers where they are, I would not shoot +P.

*Edited to remove my comment about using Hornady Critical Defense.

Thanks, didn't even think to look in the manual as this is the first time I've seen +P .380. I'll keep the CD as it works well in both guns.

My S&W 38 has +P engraved on the barrel. I think a lot of manufacturers are doing that if the pistol is rated for +P.

I’ve put downer cows down with the Underwood penetrators +p out of a TCP.

If I can pierce a cows skull at +- 15 feet, pretty sure it will work on just about anything ,

I would look into fiocci for defense. I did much study and it fared quite well.

I personally forgot that I owned a 380 after the 43 and 43x showed up in my life. The x with 15 round mags is the TICKET.

I know, I have a few subcompact 9's and such but slipping that LCP or Bodyguard in my pocket is SO easy I just default to that especially in the summer.

I just bought a couple boxes of BB .380 hardcast, planning to shoot them in my LCP.
I did not know the LCP didn't like +p.
Now I gotta go buy another .380.

Yep I've had to dispatch several myself and used the 9mm Underwood Xtreme Defenders. They're pretty impressive without a doubt!

Sig P238 all the way! You'll be pleasantly surprised with how much you like it!

I own a P238 in .380 and love it, but the P365 is very similar in size, shoots 9mm, and holds more ammo. I'm strongly considering picking up one of those soon.

I carry a lcp II and really like the gun for the size, cost and reliability. I carry critical defense in it, which is what I would recommend to anyone. Hornady did a lot of research in making the critical duty and defense ammo. Stuff like, reliable bullet expansion through heavy denim fabric, while maintaining good bullet penetration. I have never shot Buffalo Bore, as a reloader, their numbers seem crazy to me. Not sure how they get those velocities safely. If you're interested in more energy then I would suggest stepping up to a 9mm. Hope this helps.

Wanna pickup a P365 huh? Well... I hope you don't live in Cali then.

The hot loads don't produce any noticeable unpleasantness in my Sig P238. I mean... you can tell they are hotter when you touch one off, but that's it.
