350 Legend Thoughts?

Lil Gun is a Lil Weird

Try loading the Lil Gun load to the oal specs from the load data, or to where it's compressed slightly and see if that helps.

Often pressure goes down and stabilizes as it's compressed somewhat. I've seen similar issues loading it in 300 HAM’R where I'd get velocity/pressure spikes, especially if I loaded too long. If the bullet could be seated deeper, often the pressure spikes seem to be reduced or resolved.

Another Lil Weird thing with Lil Gun is that it also seems to spike as temps go down, IME.
I largely suspect that after this summer with her 6.5cm, the .350 is going to be used less from here forward. And her little brother and sister will likely hunt with a 5.56 for the foreseeable future. But as it is....pressure spike or not, my lil'gun loads don't *show* any pressure signs, and shoot very well. If I lived in a straight wall state I'd be perfectly content with at to at least 225-250 yards as it is. And I honestly very rarely shoot further than that at deer.

When you stated "more pressure than normal" I just assumed some pressure signs; you may have just been referring to your velocity. In my case it was velocity spikes with occasional blown primers with too much room in the case.

That's purely an assumption on my part, since I'm getting more velocity than Hodgdon/Hornady both publish.

No signs, at all, and primer pockets are still tight after several shots. But, still, I don't believe in getting something for nothing, so there has to be some reason my speeds are so high.

Bought both kids a 350 after a friend told me his results and let me shoot it. More knockdown than a 243 with less recoil. We did way too much tracking with 243. Ruger American bolt 16". Paid 350 each new. They don't feed great from the ar mag that comes with them. Both shoot one ragged hole. One slightly better. We have one spot for taking does that has a 125yrd max. I take my son's 350 for head shots because I know at 100yrds it goes in the exact spot as the reticle dot, every time. My daughter has killed 5 deer so far. None have been great shots because she gets the shakes. All have dropped in their tracks. We do not shoot them on stands past 150 due to the drop and kids not realizing this when excited. They have 6.5C for long range stands. The deer taken with the eldx 6.5 under 150 have all ran 50-100yrds. With engines and projectiles - No substitute for displacement.

Regarding the velocity... The factory Hornady 170's I shot in a 20" barrel averaged 2305. This is a Tikka, which I've generally found to be slower barrels. The SD was very small. Hornady's listed velocity for them, in a 20" test barrel, is 2200. I found it a little odd to be 100 fps over what was listed on the box. I don't shoot much factory ammo, but usually the fps is trending towards 100 fps less than what's on the box.
