Anybody here have any experience using these bullets? I bought a bunch to try in my 338 win mag. Primary use will be elk hunting. I have always used Barnes 210’s and have been very happy with terminal performance just wanted to try something different. BC on these is pretty impressive compared to most medium weight 338 bullets.

My Browning X-bolt shoots the Barnes 210s quite a bit better than the 230 ELD-X. I would guess they would be incredibly effective on elk and larger game.

It was hornady factory ammo precision hunter and the velocity I was getting from a ( 24inch I think ) barrel was 2700. As for wound channel couldn't really tell you we didn't cut the bear open just skinned it. The bear was shot with ELDX from 7mmWSM primary and 338win backup two times each at 200yrds. The bear was dead and down I about 2 min. at least 2 of the shots were good mid body shots thru the lungs. We recovered one 7mm bullet in the off side hide.
the last big brown bear hunt I was on we used TSX handloads from a 338win and 300wsm. Shot the bear 4 or 5 time but never found the bear.
I will say shot placement is way more important than using than the caliber or bullets you choose.

Thanks for the info. 100% agree shot placement matters more than anything. Been shooting the 210 Barnes hand loaded at 2910 for years. Always shoot a high shoulder shot. Several elk, large wild hogs and black tails at 20-450 yards. Always a bang flop.

I couldn’t find much info on these bullets so I did a quick test today. I loaded 5 rounds and shot them into wet magazines at 50 yards. Impact velocity was 2715 fps. 3 of the 5 rounds penetrated 20 inches and exited the box and showed a good amount of expansion and fragmentation. Exits were approx 2.5 inches dia. The other 2 stopped at approx 15 inches and also showed similar amount of expansion and fragmentation. The bullet with the core separation was intact when I removed it and then core fell out. Wet newspaper isn’t exactly scientific but I’ve found it’s a pretty good medium to test bullets. The eld-x performed about how I thought it would. I’ll test some at longer ranges when I can. 338 win mag isn’t very popular these days but I still like mine so throwing this out there in case anyone else is interested in these bullets.

I bought several boxes last winter. Havnt actually shot any yet. Putting a scope on that rifle was on my weekend plans so expect I will sight it in over Christmas if not before.

I shoot them out of my 20” 338SS with a MV2750. I have shot deer&elk from 50yards-630yards. Sometimes I get a pass through but most of the time it’s a nice little mangle mushroom on the offside hide and a lot of damage left behind. No bad experience with them yet.

Very accurate for me at 2830 out of a 24" R700.

I've never actually hunted with the rifle so not terminal performance info, but I've been very happy with the eldx performance on antelope muler deer and elk from 6.5-cm, 308, 30-06, and 7mm-08, it's the only bullet i load anymore.

I can't imagine the 230's performance would be any different.
