.338 RPM on 30-06 action?

What are the case design issues?

Probably just referring the rebated rim.

I was digging deep into the 6.5RPM for a while and in that research I never came across anyone saying they had issues with extraction or feeding. I was really close to doing one on a tikka action using UM bottom metal and mags.

I have a bartlein 1:9:3 with a T3 brake cerakoted chambered in edge +p that I am taking off after 82 rounds. Shot .5moa with everything I loaded with it. I made the mistake of building the gun too light. It was a monster to hang onto.

Fired cases were hard to extract even in factory loads in 3 wby rifles
Brass developed clickers after first firing
Feeding was poor in a staggered wby box magazine, a center feed might alleviate this.
Sounds like the OP could possibly need bear defense, so not a great choice.

The rifle came together last month, I was able to do some shooting with it recently. Feeding has been a non issue with accubond 225’s, 210 scirocco’s and 210 hammers. Shoots the scirocco’s very well

I ended up putting a 338rpm on a tikka action as well. No issues whatsoever with feeding. Both from a 30-06 factory mag and an mdt metal mag for the chasis it sits in now. Both are single stack of course.

I haven't re-used the brass enough to figure out if clickers will be an issue, but none so far. Peterson brass.

I don’t have one yet of any flavor, but the RPM case has to be the most interesting thing to come along in the past decade. What a neat project.

The 338” cartridges have taken a beating lately with poor availability and interest in all the small bores, but 210 to 225 gr bullets at 338 Win mag velocities simply work well. My first big cartridge was going to be a shiny new Ruger 300 win mag, but when I had the money together it was sold so I bought the 338 instead and I’ve been in love with that bore size ever since. Prairie dog, coyote, badger, fox, antelope, deer, elk and it was a very popular loaner rifle. Sometimes it killed 3x as many elk as I did.
Any video of the prairie dog hunt? I imagine it being somewhat dramatic.
