Here I thought I was crazy to build a Custom lightweight rifle chambered in 338RCM. https://www.gunwerks.com/shop/produ...mail&utm_term=0_53a91dab6f-d4e26c6662-5223697
I built mine for about $4K. Ti action, 16” carbon barrel, and hunter edge stock. Weighs ~5.75lbs naked.I have always thought of a light, compact 338. but the price on that is about $12,000 too many!
Hows the recoil? is it braked or suppressed?I built mine for about $4K. Ti action, 16” carbon barrel, and hunter edge stock. Weighs ~5.75lbs naked.
It's braked so it's not bad. I haven't shot it without the brake yet but I intend to just to see.Hows the recoil? is it braked or suppressed?
Yeah, I found that to be a stretch. I'm sending 225gr CE Raptors at 2600 out of mine and they're supposed to be reliable down to 1500fps, so that's about 650 or so. I kind of built that rifle around a 600 yard limit.“launching 225gr Hornady SST bullets nearly 2,500 feet per second, enough to be effective on game past 900 yards.”

900 yards is when an SST goes subosonic at that MV, I believe.yeah, considering it’s easy to find external ballistics from a standard 308 that stomp a 225 SST at 2500 fps.
Pretty sure this company makes the barrel. Can get one of these for a lot cheaper if you send them the action. https://www.suppressedweaponsystems.com/products/bolt-actions/I just did some reading on the 338 rcm, never really looked at it before now. It’s a nice looking round.
I am curious how many guns they actually sell at $12,900.
I think someone that can afford $13K for a rifle like that probably can afford replacing the barrel.Wait until you shoot out that barrel and need a replacement. Imagine what that costs?
My brother has a Remington model 8 in 35 rem and it is not light, but it is a semi-auto.I got a light weight 350 rem mag in a model 7 Custom KS. Now that’s a hammer. 338’s are for sissy’s.
