If someone has asked this and I missed it in the search Im sorry. I have a unique opportunity to shoot a lot of whitetails this summer at night with thermals under a couple different deperadation permits. I want to build a dedicated subsonic thumper from one of my currently SBR registered lowers. Im planninImg to go 338 ARC, and Im hoping to get a 10-12in 1-3twist barrel for it. I will reload for it other than some FMJs for plinking and zeroeing, and would like to use the 8.6 blackout designed maker type monos that are designed to open at low velocity. Has anyone else done this? Is it a bad idea yay or nay. Ive seen what the 8.6 can do and was astonished at how quickly it dropped a doe last year while sitting with a friend. I jusr dont want to build a dedicated subsonic bolt gun.
