I need to stay out of gun shops as I periodically find something that I like. I picked up a Remington Sendero Stainless Fluted the other day in a 25.06. Didn't need it, but almost like new and the price was right. The gun came with quick detach 30mm rings and bases. The scope was not included. Wish it was as I had bought 3 guns previously from the same home and they all had high dollar scopes on them. Anyway, I am trying to figure out what to put on the gun without wrapping up a minor fortune in the scope. I would prefer to stay under a Grand and hopefully far less than that if possible. I'm guessing that the gun warrants a decent scope, but I am not looking at it for more than 600-700 yards. Should make a nice deer/antelope/coyote gun. Won't be lightweight, but should be accurate. If I can't get a decent deal on a 30mm scope, then I will change out to a 1 inch setup.

Suggestions???

The Vortex Viper HS/ HS LR/ PST scopes all fit the bill.

The Meopta Meostars are also nice and have excellent optical performance, but they don't have the ballistic reticle/tactical options the Vortex lines have.

ill second the viper hs lr great scope for $550 range. with the elevation turret and bdc steps its a pretty sweet set up i have one on my 300wsm

Went with Matt's recommendation and picked up a Viper HS with the BDC in a 4-16X44. Skipped the LR as I intend to use this for hunting applications and didn't want the tall elevation turret on the gun and for the range that I intend to use it, probably not necessary. Elknut was great to work with and he gave me the short course on the BDC over the phone. Ordered on Wednesday and had it on Saturday and shot it that afternoon. Grabbed a couple varieties of 25-06 that I had around and was very impressed with the setup and shot groups in spite of the mirage (shooting out of a warm building into the cold) and the breeze. Gun should shoot. Only draw back is the weight... 10lbs 11oz without ammo, sling and bipod. A little heavier than I'm used to. Hopefully get a chance to use it on a late season Nevada mulie. Will know if I draw in about a week.
