That is a tough combo to change since it's a great weight and bullet for many things. If I was going to experiment with an all copper bullet, it would not be to improve on what I already have but to prepare for any states or areas that are lead-free or talking about becoming lead-free. That's my mindset.

I’ve used 165 ABs out of a 30-06 with great success on elk. Should be great out of a 308 as well

I wouldn’t trade AB’s for monos at .308 speeds. What ranges are you planning on shooting?

Another good option is federal terminal ascent, it’s a tough bullet but seems to upset a little better than accubonds

I have about 400rds of terminal ascent for my .308 currently, so that will be my bullet of choice until I get low, then I’ll reassess then, but assume I will stick with it, been a great projectile in the creed.

If I go away from them, it will be to favor a softer bullet like a tmk or eldm, they both make sense with normal .308 impact velocities

Only way I know go back to a ttsx is if shots are close and muzzle velocity is high… or I lived in Cali, and that will never happen… it makes me cringe to even joke about

IMO the 130-150 ttsx’s are more suitable for a .308win , more velocity
i‘m focusing on 150gr barns for my African hunt,
nosler is my favorite brand, but lately I’ve had trouble finding any
so switched to Norma oryx @ 2850 fps
I agree, for the 308win, I’m easily able to get the 150g ttsx up to 2900fps. 168 seems heavy to me for a mono out of a 308, for that weight I’d take a 165g accubond or partition.

Last 3 big game animals I‘ve taken have been with the 308 winchester and 165 Nosler ballistic tips…. 2 bull elk and 1 moose. killed 2 bulls in their tracks and the moose made it 60 yards and died uphill…. That being said I’m planning on using accubonds in the same weight as I just purchased 500 of them.

The 180 nosler balistic tip is a very underrated bullet in my opinion. I've killed elk with them and they have performed flawlessly, good expansion and textbook weight retention. I prefer the accubond, but in a pinch, I wouldn't hesitate to use the 180 ballistic tip again. I think the 165 in either flavor is a good option at 308 speeds.

Agree with roosiebull. In a 308 stick to the accubonds unless you drop down on weight with the barnes. Barnes needs speed to expand reliably. Seen that show before and did not like it. Seen accubonds work wup to 300 yds no issues on cows repeatedly.

I'd stick with accubond or accubond lr. The new monos are good an people have a lot of success with them but some people have had expansion issues and it just doesn't have the density that lead has. To me accubonds give the hunter the most amount of margin for error. Shot placement is king but hunting isn't always perfect.

They’re both good options for elk but the TTSX is the better elk bullet in my experience. As far as margin of error, Barnes has the advantage. If you have an angle that requires more penetration the TTSX is going to be the one that gets there more reliably
