300WSM and 215 Bergers

I'm in the middle of building a 300WSM on a model 70 action. I should have plenty of room in the magazine for a longer bullet but I'm wondering how it will do with a sami spec chamber. I don't really want to chamber the rifle for one specific bullet.....any one had any luck with this combo and a spec chamber?

My experience with that bullet and ones similar to it is that you'll want .080-.120 more freebore to take advantage of case capacity. I'd throat it for .020 under your max magazine length.

SAAMI freebore spec is like 0.188 but it seems a lot of manufactures have "SAAMI" chambers but with varying freebore dimensions. COAL is going to get pretty long with a true SAAMI spec Chamber and a 215 at the lands. I'm not sure a m70 3.10" (if that's what it is?) mag box will get you there and if it does, it wont be by much.

You’ll be fine, I had my chamber set to Samii and have no issues with .09 off the lands and an oal of 2.85. With RL26 I’m getting 2963ft/s and amazing accuracy.
