That's interesting. I guess that I could have read up on that. I wonder how that works if the Hammer bullet I'd be using is a lighter, say sub-180 grain, 30 cal bullet and you can't count on the weight of the bullet to carry through (literally) despite lack of weight retention. I just can't load heavy (long) bullets in my 300 WSM that has a SAAMI spec throat/chamber/mag (whatever it is). Thanks for the input.
google Hammer Bullets and read their entire pages as they appear to have done a ton of R & D on the design - It impressed me enough to pony up for 2 different cal. tryouts …… "frangible" vs. mono's isn't the argument with me so much as LEAD vs. COPPER as there is a lot of science yet to be openly revealed on a LEAD bullet traveling to and through animals I eat (Broz, this does NOT mean I don't believe you) and "who" knows ?? they may come up with something bad about copper too before the discussion's over

If your loading around magazine length restrictions try the Berger classic hunters. Both the 168 and the 185 have shot excellent in the 300 WSM’s with short boxes that I have loaded for. It sounds like you have tried but a 215 will almost end up with the ogive inside the case mouth if your stuck under 2.90 coal.

Yes, that's the problem I have. Actually the 180 Accubonds are shooting better with H4350. . about a 1/2" group. So I'd be good on elk out to 850 yds with the energy. I would have liked one of those heavier, longer bullets but the back of the bullet is practically going to be touching the primer.

They are very interesting. I think I'm going to try some out for next season. Probably in the 173 to 166 grain range.
