Tikka t3 300wsm (work up your loads very carefully)

178eldx h4350 2950 just about full mag length very accurate (my go to)

200grain eldx h4350 2900fps full mag length very accurate but required a very clean barrel with a couple of fouling shots. 200 grains were marginal stabilized in the 1:11 twist rate. This load was near identical in a sako with the same barrel. Only difference was brass brand and we were able to obtain the same accuracy once we got the same velocity. Seating depth was the same as well.

168 ttsx h4350 3100 not as accurate but plenty accurate for 300 yards and under that I intended using them for. I would go slower if I had to do it again. Just to have lighter recoil.

Two different 300 WSM's I worked with did really well with H 4831 sc and 180's speeds were around 2950 fps. H 4350 worked too but not quite as well however others have done well with it. A load that worked surprisingly well was RL 15 with a bunch of different 165's. Pretty mild recoil with this load and speed a bit over 3000 fps. Got my data from Nosler and had my best results around their max loads.
I'm curious about your barrel length to get a rough idea of what to expect with H4831SC and H4350 on hand for my 20" WSM. I am going to play with 175 LRX and 180-185s bullets. Thanks!

Should have put it in there but both were Browning A Bolt's with 23" barrels. If you're dealing with a custom barrel I bet your 20" barrel won't be much slower.

My 23" xbolt does 2840 with h4831 and 200 eldx and about that even with the factory 200 precision hunter which seems plenty quick for those combos.

2950 with h4350 and 180s seemed like a good match too.

Other powders may get a bit more speed but H 4931 sc and H 4350 are such good powders in the 300 WSM. Lots of love for them on this thread.

How did you reach this conclusion?
Just from my own observation. Hornady does recommend 1:10, but I developed a load regardless. And it did indeed work but after a bit of barrel fouling I started getting fliers. Come to learn that a friend of mine had the same problem his would also only work on a newly cleaned barrel. Mine being a tikka t3 his a sako but the same barrel.
It’s a real shame. While developing the load we took it to 950 yards stock rifle no brake. It held a solid 6-5/8” group at that distance.

Tikka 300wsm cut to 20”
Norma brass, 200 eldx and Staball 6.5 for 2810 fps
Shoots factory bondstrikes 2965 fps
How is accuracy and velocity with the 6.5 staball in the 300wsm? I’ve been using it in my 6 and 6.5 Manbun and it’s been great.

Could be bullet run out, a bullet that isn't concentric, the shooter was a bit off on a shot (happens to us all not a criticism of you). Could be other factors as well.

Could be, also there’s a lot of recoil to contend with. I found them frustrating to work with. Best three shot group was one hole group and most of the time I would be able to keep it to 1-1/4” but when the group opens up to over 3” something is off. Cleaning the barrel would fix it.
Maybe time to try them again. I have since had a brake installed.
Let us know how you make out if you decide to try them.

I’m running 208 ELD-M in my 11” twist Tikka Superlite. They’re calculated as being stable when using JBM Ballistics online stability calculator that accounts for plastic tip. 10 shot group was 1.02” at 100 yards. Shot out to 865 yards when DA = -1800’. I haven’t cleaned the barrel at all with about 80 rounds through the barrel

Hard to beat the tikka. (Fighting words on this forum)😂 they did start making the 300 win mag in 1:10 twist. But I have not seen the 300wsm in it yet.
I’ll have a look at that calculator.
