Have a rifle coming shortly, will be my first time. Going to run adg brass, 181gr hammer hunters, have cci250 primers on hand. Looking for advice on powder. Should go with Retumbo or H1000? Any others I should be thinking about? Temp stability is important to me.

Have had great success with H1000 in a 300Rum. Both with copper 180’s and 215 bergers. Temp stability has never been an issue from freezing to 100+.

It may be tough finding the favorite powder. RL26, H1000, N570 are probably top.

The boys over on Hammer's Forum are pushing the 181s out of RUMs at 3400fps with hot loads of H1000 and ADG brass

I'm currently using rl33. I got many opposing opinions on h1000/retumbo. I'd say get a pound and try. You'll go through it quick anyway

I had a line on H1000 two days ago, now out of stock. Anyone tried the IMR enduron 7977 or 8133 in their rums? I was thinking 7977 may be a good choice with the 181s with a slightly faster burn than 8133

I've got 8133. I can't remember if I tested it or not, but I'm pretty sure I loaded some. (Since moved, etc, lots of other things) but I'm using 230's, either Berger's or a tips.

Mine shot great groups with Retumbo, and I thought I had it figured out so I bought a few more pounds of it. Then I found some N570, so I bought a few pounds of that. The N570 gives me more speed and better accuracy. Right after I figured all this out, the powder supply went dry. I am glad I have a tendency to overbuy at times.

I wish I ordered 570 while I had access to it. I lived close to an awesome reloading place. I'd walk in when you couldn't get h4350, and they almost always had some. Anything, other than n330, if I asked for it, they'd order it for me if they didn't have it. Oh, I miss that place... Helped being in Wyoming, and not... Seattle suburbs...

So what is the magic dust for these things? Rl26 or N570?
Bullets, brass, powder, and dies are on the way 🤪

If you want the magic ground unicorn horn dust, that was ground on the second Wednesday after the blue moon, I hear n570 is the stuff. I wouldn't know though, I've never found any. Everything else is just looking for something that's close to it. Again, that's what I hear. That might be only for stuff in the 230 grain category though.

If you call or email Steve at Hammer Bullets, I think he could get you started in the right direction for powder/starting load/target velocity.

I don't think you can go wrong with either N570 or RL26. Lately I've seen RL26 pop up online while N570 is basically impossible to find. It's also nearly 30% more expensive than RL26

I reload for 5 different .300 RUMS, I have two myself and all five shoot all my loads great. For powder I load either Retumbo or RL 25, and I only use 200 gr Accubonds anymore. I did also get good results with RL33 but the Retumbo is hard to beat. When I use to load Barnes they needed a jump. I have multiple partition loads and also Scirocco all with RL25 and all my loads are most accurate at max loads. I load for two 700s ,one Sendero, and two Fierce CT Edges. I also use ADG brass anymore and Fed 215 primers.

My old rum(shot the barrel out) loved retumbo 8133 was slooooowwwwwww. New barrel ships tomorrow hoping it likes N570 as I have 6 pounds scored on midway a couple weeks back but plan to shoot hammers as well.

I'm going to order some Retumbo as soon as I can find some. What twist is the new barrel?

Well I have two coming ones an 8 and ones a 10 the 10 is for the wife 26 inch barrel and my 8 is 32in it will be set up for the 214 hammers. Hers will either eat the 166 or 181 the 166 shoot great in the 300 wsm I have with rl 26
