I’m having lane precision rifles build a 300 rum with the following specs.

22” proof barrel
Manners eh1
Defiance anti x
Trigger tech trigger
Unknown dbm
Chambered for 215 Berger (even thought about the 220 but know nothing about them)

It will be hunted with suppressed

I’ve considered the manners PH and lrh but he recommends the eh1 for what I said I wanted.

Open to advice or suggestions

Just curious, what made you think of that cartridge over the 300 PRC?

The 300 RUM is one of my favorite hunting cartridges. Based on your list of components you’ll have a great rifle. The stocks you’re looking at are similar enough I don’t think you can go wrong. I personally have a MCS-T and love it and is possibly an another one you may want to look at.

My goal was trying to get the 215 comfortably to run 3000. I told Dallas I was eyeing the 30 nosler but for my goals he recommended the norma or rum and of the two he likes the rum. Said he can easily achieve those velocities without having to get into the harsh n570 type powders

I love my 300RUM! It is pure horse power and an animal slayer. It has take 4 60”+ Alaskan bull moose. 260yds, 360yds, 390yds & 580yds. I’m using 200 Accubonds but those Bergers will be wicked. You picked one of the best RUM builders out there (if not the best)

I honestly didn’t know it was an option just have always heard about the 215. The 230 has my interest. Would you say do it?
If you would throat a 300 RUM for the 230s, your cartridge overall length is going to be a little over 3.9”, so you would need the extra mag length of something like the Unknown Munitions DBM or the Wyatt’s CFE-9 mag box. I elected to go with the shorter 30 Nosler so I didn’t need an ultra long mag box.

Edit — I think Dallas has more than a little experience with the 300 RUM. I would just tell him what I planned to hunt, and how, and listen to his advice on bullets and throating.

Yeah I like the norma improved. 108-109gr capacity but coal still in the 3.86-3.88 ish range. Rum is horsepower king, but once you start throating appropriately you get long requiring special actions that are designed to handle the near 4" coal. Plus lapua norma magnum brass is near indestructible. My 22in is running 215s at 2950 and I'm 3gr below psi.
