300 PRC Loads

Hey all, I struck gold and won a full blown custom rifle package at a DSC event a few weeks ago. The caliber I choose was 300 PRC for this build. They are making it sound like this rifle should be finished pretty soon. I just sent them a scope to zero it before sending it out. So. . Now I need to get some load ideas put together and try to get some components. I have some Lapua brass on its way and already have Federal 215s. What's everyones bullet and powder of choice?

Berger 208 atop some h1000. You should try adg brass also, I liked it alittle better than lapua

I have a 24” proof sendero with a defiance action and a McMillan as well. I am shooting lapua and fed 215s as well. I chose the 1-9 twist though. I’d recommend putting that fast twist to use and shooting a bullet on the heavy end of the scale. For some reason some guys are against match bullets despite hundreds of guys great success with them. The 225 eldm would be a good choice if I were you or the 230 Berger. I usually use H1000 but you could use a lot of different powders. Might get better velocity with retumbo but as I understand it H1000 can be a bit cleaner and more consistent as well as temp insensitive. I have a quite similar setup and that’s been my recipe for success. Here’s a 5 shot group at a 1 inch circle

230 Berger over N570 @ 2917fps in a 24” barrel.

I also have some 205 bergers I was considering with H1000 but haven’t played with them yet.

I have 1-8 proof on a SR3 long action. I’m shooting 230 Atips in ADG brass fed 215’s and n565. Also have a super accurate load with Berger 215 hybrids over h-1000, easy 3k and accurate and consistent. A 1-9 should be plenty fast for the heavier bullets

Mine shoots a case full of h1000 and 210 Bergers into one hole, kissing lands.

ELDM 225, ADG, 82 gr. N-570, GM215M- .055 off jam

Both loads shoot extremely well from mine

What charge weight and velocity are you getting with the H4831? I have some, and H1000 seems to be more challenging to find.

Should go without saying but this is for my gun. Work up in yours. They are flying at 2990 fps.

Running mostly 215s with 570. The charge I settled on shoots very flat vertical at 1000 with Very good velocity in a 22"barrel. I had a solid load with accubonds and h1000 also. Only 2 bullets I have shot

Built that exact same rifle 3 years ago and I don’t go hunting without it. I doped 75 gr of RL 26 w 210 gr Berger VLDH and have a 1/2” MOA. Back up powder is IMR 7977 same weight same grouping just a little hotter

215 berger in adg brass, RL 26 , 24" suppressed proof 9 twist, 2926 fps, Alamo action and built. Using it for 4 years I think. Keeps working and killing with no drama. Close to long.

My Christensen 300 prc I'm shooting the berger 230s at 2930fps from adg brass and h1000. I can tell you it absolutely wallops black bear!!- as to be expected.

How many grains of powder are you using on this load?

230 A tips. Bergera hmr. 74 grains of h 1000.
One hole at 100 but wish i could get more speed.
