I'm getting ready to start loading for my Proof Research Glacier Ti. in 300 PRC. With all the issues of availability in components I'm trying to make the right decision the first time around on a hunting round. One obvious option is just going with Hornady ELD-X in 212gr or what I would lean towards - the 220gr. But Berger makes a good billed and so does Sierra. Never been a huge fan of Nosler with my .308 and 30-06.

I'm just curious if anyone has personal experience with Berger Classic Hunter or VLD and Sierra GameKings with the 300PRC and actual hunting results.

I'm adding the Poll just to see what most say, would love to hear in the comments below from guys would have real experience and suggestions!

ALSO, if anyone has a hookup for some bullets, that's the only thing I really need right now. Just got my primers, 4lbs of H-1000 and brass.

I have a Spring Idaho Black Bear hunt next year, AK Caribou Aug 2021, Moose 2022 along with Elk. So my target animal is North American Big Game. I feel expansion/retention is not the sameon the ELD-M

Any of the Hammer Hunters would be awesome, the 181 would be fast and devastating at PRC speeds (from memory I saw 3200fps+ in a 300wm). The 199 should be good too, if you have a 9 twist barrel.

After 3 seasons hunting with Hammers, I have a hard time even considering anything else unless it was something with a better BC on a mountain hunt.

You wont be worried about retained weight with the copper bullets

Hammer bullets...199 grain if you have the twist. The 181s will be lasers out of a PRC.

My personal opinion of bullets that come in yellow boxes and rhyme with turgor is less than favorable to many forum members. On the heavier end of though I think the ELD-X bullets would be a good choice at distance.

Why not Accubonds?

200 LRX is cool also. Personally I would not use Bergers on game. Not a fan at all based on my experience.

I am not impressed with SGK or Bergers on game. But what is this blasphemy about not liking Nosler?? Hahahaha!

I have an interest in this thread as I plan on joining the PRC cult......

Hammers have been calling my name for lots of reasons.

This year I decided to go all in on the hammer train and it has treated me very well. For that reason I voted for the 214 hammers. I believe you can get them over 3k fps which would be a fantastic combo.

I know guys are getting over 3100 FPS with the 199 Hammer and RL26 and i've personally seen what the 181's do on elk.

Any of those would be excellent choices.

It really seems like this cal really likes the heavy bullets. My buddy has one that shoots the 220's like a tac driver. But any smaller than that and its all over the place.

I have played with several different powders and bullets for my Bergara Highlander. Worked up loads with H1000,

I’ve been working up hunting loads for my Bergara Highlander 300 PRC for about year now. It’s is a 1/9 twist, best results to date are with N560, Berger 210 VLD Hunter, and Winmag primers. Using the satterlee ladder method I have played with Nosler 180 and 200gr, Hornady 212, and the Berger 210. For powders H1000, H4831, and N560. My son harvested his first Elk this fall with it, one shot dropped in its tracks, granted it was a 125 yard chip shot.
I have some Hammer Hunter 199’s on the way to play with next. happy to share load data and range results with anyone who wants it.

That's awesome. Please share! I'm going to do some load development w/ 220gr ELD-X once some ADG brass comes into stock.

215 and 245 Berger. You could also have Defensive Edge +P the barrel for you if you're exclusively handloading.

Other options would be Hammer Hunter or Cutting Edge.
