300 blackout subsonic for deer?

Shot a doe at about 100 yards today with the 194 Lehigh. Sent it through the lungs and was a little surprised/disappointed to see an exit (was hoping to catch the projectile).

Worked very well, she was down within seconds. Didn’t autopsy since it was pretty cold and I ended up shooting another a few minutes afterwards. Nice hole through the lungs though.

This thread scratched an itch, ordered 100 makers to give a try. 200 grain Rex.

Anyone have a rough starting point for H110? Maybe CFE BLK but not sure I’ll have enough room for it. I don’t have a Barnes manual so not sure if they have a 200 grain load?

Update to my post above - finally got around to processing the doe from last weekend.

Pictured is the entrance:

And exit. Clipped a rib going in and seems like the 194 Lehigh turned a bit on its way out as it was more of a horizontal wound:

300 BO not shooting subs, my boy shot his buck this year with a 300 BO at 103 yards. He's shooting a Ruger American gen2 ranch 16" barrel we found a recipe that it likes really well, 110 gn Barnes TTSX over 16gns of CFE 223 haven't shot through a chrono yet, shooting suppressed I was able to hear the round impact the deer and dropped in his tracks, pretty impressive little round complete pass through both front shoulders very little meat loss

I have zero confidence in my .300 Blackout for hunting. It’s the only rifle I have ever been routinely disappointed in that is very accurate. I have a DD SBR that I have used both subs and supers in and it has been regulated to a plinking machine. The short barrel is the issue dropping velocity but I have lost multiple deer and hogs and don’t trust it. Hornady 190 subs and Barnes 110s both shoot excellent but my <100 yard shots on game have been rough.

Like others have said, give me a .223/5.56, 6.8 SPC, or 6 ARC from an AR with a suppressor and I’m happy.

I’m considering a HAM’R but a 6.8 SPC has always been very good to me.

I’ve killed several deer and a couple 200# hogs with the 110 Blacktips, but only one deer with subs, using Hornady factory 190 Sub-X.

Broadside, about 35 yards, high chest thru both lungs and shoulders and exited. The doe ran maybe 30 yards and collapsed. I finished her with a head shot because her head was up when I got to her.

Think of sub hunting like you are bow hunting and it can be done.

I've killed about a dozen deer with a 10.5" 300blk.
Both AR and bolt rifle. But always supers until this year. Got two does with factory 190gr SubX.

First was 60 yards, hard angling toward me, almost completely frontal, aimed low and got the top of the heart, lung, and into the stomach. I tried like crazy to find the bullet, but just couldn't find it.

Second one was 105 yards, broadside, pass through both lungs.

Both ran about 30 yards.

I also have videos of the impacts if you wanted to see them. Shoot me a PM and I can text them to you.
