300 Blackout hunting round?

Same here, my son and I killed a few deer this week and I’m loving the little round, his first deer with a rifle was a CVA scout 16.5” with a TB ultra7 and Barnes 110gr black tip and his doe dropped in its tracks, mine ran 50 yards and poured out blood and died. He also killed his first rifle buck, it ran 40 yards and died. Great little round and the black tip barnes is the ticket.

I took the pop gun cva yesterday on a piece of property I have permission to hunt. I killed 2 does out of my climber, the place is over run with deer. They hired a biologist to come in and 2 different guys said kill 100 for the year. Ag land and river bottoms that nobody has hunted for 10 years...it's ridiculous.

Anyway. Doe 1 at 30 yards in the lungs and she ran 30 yards right past me spraying blood. Stopped did the death wobble and fell over.

Doe 2 shot at 50 yards left handed she ran about 50 dumping blood and was easy to find.

150 grain Fusion did its job again and punched right on through. I didn't gut them so no inner cavity pictures.

Any update in Hornady Sub-x?

I tried them in 450 Bushmaster and didn’t like them, accuracy wasn’t great, wounding wasn’t great on the one deer I shot with them (only animal I’ve lost in probably the last 20 years).

The Winchester Deer Season 150gr Extreme point did well for me again, shot between the ear and shoulder, dropped him in his tracks.

I've had much better results with a 125 TMK than with the 110 Barnes. The Barnes is a good bullet but the wound is much wider with the TMK
How have the TMKs done with respect to penetration compared to the 110 Barnes? Do you tend to get pass throughs with them?

Can you provide more data? What bright you to this conclusion?

Are you seeing fragmentation with this bullet? Really like 77 TMK in 556.
Fragmentation yes. I wouldn't say the wound is quite a wide as the 77s but im not the best person to ask that. I dont always know what im looking at when skinning them out & most of the time they arent skinned out. I was more referencing that i tend to get less runners with the 125 TMK than the 110 ttsx. They have done very well for me. @Formidilosus probably has more actual info on what the 125 is doing in tissue.

Okay, thanks for the info. I'm hoping for similar performance to the 77s.

Got one last week with the 110 gn Vortx. 8.5 barrel. What was weird that the exit round was lower left of entrance above shoulder. The deer went 20 yards and dropped. Must of hit a rib and deflected. Not ideal but surprising out of my pistol.
