300 Blackout for deer

I wish the CVA Scout pistol was shorter than 14 inches. In my opinion, there doesn’t seem to be too much benefit going from 16 inches for the rifle to 14 inches with the pistol. I’d prefer 12 inches or shorter and then file the form with the ATF and convert the pistol to a rifle.
Think there’s a 10” version when I was on gunbroker but can’t find it now.

I bought the kids a cva scout with the 16 inch barrel last year. Without a suppressor it feels like a BB gun, its tiny. I have a vx3 2.5-10x40 on it with an AAC Cyclone that stays on that rifle. We've killed close to 10 I think with that rifle and we, especially me, love it. We're shooting the 150 grain fusion factory loads in it until we run out. Once I saw the effects on the first deer from it I bought a case of it so I've got plenty for a few seasons. From 100 pound doe to 220 pound bucks 20 yards to 100 yards it just works.

We've had only 1 deer stop the round and that was one I shot this season at 40 yards, a 218 pound buck rutted up stinking that I shot following a doe. The shot hit him square in the shoulder and was behind the off side shoulder in the muscle, he ran 120 yards from POI to where we found him. I put a dog on him due to no blood trail at all and the dog went straight to him. Everything else we've killed bleeds great. I'm not sure why that one didn't blow through him and leave a blood trail, I knew by the way he took off he was hit hard.

I'll attach some pics of typical blood trails.

Why don’t you suppress it too?

Not 300 BLK, but I’ve had good luck with an 8.6 BLK bolt gun out to a little over 200. Probably not the most terminally effective setup ever, but I’ve been pretty impressed with the damage it’s done even with solid coppers. Fun little woods gun if you’re aware of the limitations.
