30-30 scope choice

Agree with the Leupold 1.5-5, great scope.

Another good one if you can find it is a Weaver V3 1-3. Huge field of view.

The 2.5x20 would be my choice. Although I can never find one in gloss. My 35rem is currently waiting for a peep sight. Probably a skinner, but maybe a necg.

I have a Weaver 1-3x28 on mine....I think they have been discontinued. Seems to suit the rifle and purpose. They are a nice little scope, made in Japan as well.

I have two levers, 357 and 45-70. I have been so tempted to scope them but I just couldn't get myself to do it. Peeps for me :)

Any more thoughts here on this. I know a few mentioned it.

Weaver 1-3 is what mine wears. Discontinued but if you can find one they’re perfect scopes for a levergun.
Edit: there’s one on eBay for $149, good deal...

Prismatic red dot

mild magnification and ultra compact to keep the lever gun handy

if you don’t need magnification then Burris fast fire

otherwise I agree with others. Peep sights with different size diopters for various ranges

For a handy woods carbine in .30-30, my preference is a set of Skinner peep sights. If you're looking to add magnified optics I think that a Leupold 2.5 power scout scope is very hard to beat. It's light, compact, and when mounted properly is much faster on snap shots than any conventionally mounted telescope.
