30.06 for Long Range Hunting?

30-06 at 1000 yards? Not sure about that, but if you load a 190gr ABLR definitely get you out responsibly to 600 yards. Personally, don’t believe in shooting game past 600, with any caliber but that’s me.

Back in my day we'd kill elk at a thousand yards with nothing but a Remington 30-06 and a CDS Leupold!

I'd be more worried about a rifle that won't function dirty (my own experience) and a scope that probably won't hold zero. After that caliber is whatever.
