168 grain Barnes TTSX pushed by 55.0 grains of IMR-4350 will kill anything in the Elk/Deer woods. Shoots into 1/2 inch group out of my T/C Venture rifle. I take it on my Elk hunt as a back-up rifle to my .340 Weatherby.

Just ordered this.

I’m also trying to track down some Nosler Accubond 180 grain.

I’m gonna compared the two above with hornady sst 165 grain and see what shoots best.

I like the first two much better than the SST. Never used it but don’t think it is as tough a bullet as the others. Elk are tough

IMR 4350 has always been the most accurate for me in my '06. The ballistics are not much different from 165gr to 180gr. You may lose ~ 100fps.

Shoot the 180gr and be done with it. :)

I had 3 different M70 rifles, and like a dummy I sold every one. Wish I had kept them all!!!
M70 classic sporter w/BOSS .270 WIN.

M70 classic stainless w/BOSS-.270 WIN.

M70 classic SM w/BOSS-7mm Rem mag.
All 3 would shoot under MOA WITHOUT BOSS ADJUSTMENT!!! With BOSS adjustment the classic sporter was the most accurate -3 shots w/Federal 150 ballistic tips @ 100 yds.=.242
Like I said....DUMMY!!!😱

I've shot a lot of game with a 30-06 using both 165 gr. Partitions and 165 gr. Accubonds. That is all I ever shoot in it for antelope, deer, black bear, and elk. IMR4350 and H4350 seem to be great powders in the
30-06 with all bullet weight too.

57.4 grs. of IMR4350 with the two bullets I list works very well. This is out of my Ruger 1B with the 26" barrel and a 4x Leupold scope on it.

Accubond shot into gallon water jugs lined up at 25 yards. Brutal test and look how well it performed.

If you want to use a mono bullet I would try the 150 gr. E-tip.
