I was at my local firearms store yesterday completing a background check and I was told there are more than 3,000 folks in the queue. The employee told me it would most likely be a few days, if not a week until I would receive the results. They said it's been this way since March....

Anyone else purchased a firearm recently? How long did it take to get your background check results?

About 15 minutes last Tuesday. And about the same amount of time mid-May.

My FFL did it over the phone as normal and took as long as possible to get me to buy something else.

4 days a couple weeks ago for a single shot 12 gauge. Been through half a dozen background checks in the last year. Would figure that would make it go faster not slower, but anything the government touches seems to be opposite world.

We have to have a "Special Permit" to carry for that to work. Not just the regular one. Have yet to donate the money and time to make it happen. After a lifetime of firearm ownership not sure I have what it takes to make it through the class.

Just a 8hour “class” and hundred bucks or so and you are good for 5 years. Not saying it’s the right way, just the way it is here

In my area none of the FFLs are doing any new transfers until July. And then it’s a 10 day wait here in CA once your start paperwork.

Just bought a 460 the other day and they told me same thing 2k plus inline but mine went through instantly. I was in and out in 15 minutes. This was in Oregon

Bought on a Saturday and had it by Monday/Tuesday. Glock 10mm.

I was in and out of academy sports in N.C. in about 20 minutes last week buying a rifle

My buddy ordered a Tikka super lite from sportsmen and they told him 10 days or something crazy too. He didn't worry to much because it was going to take awhile to get the rifle shipped in. Crazy world right now

I picked up a new O/U shotgun from my FFL last week. We can avoid the NICS check in ND with a valid CWP. Hearing of the NICS backlog is another reason I like having my CWP.

I've purchased 5 or 6 guns in the last year....I put money on total time in the shop, including check out, i go through at under 1 1/4 hrs....

I've never in the 16ish years I've been able to buy guns waited more than 20min.

Same. Right up until numerous background checks for several hospitals, nursing school, licensing, public schools, etc. Now I'm apparently a risky proposition. SMH
