.280AI? Help this FNG

What’s up everyone. My name is Andy, I live in Oregon.

I’m currently in the process of building a .280AI and joined the forum to read other experiences and hopefully locate a few things I need for my smith.

Currently looking for:
.284 Berger EH in 175gr
Peterson .280AI Brass

Thank you, I reached out to Peterson and they said the same thing. Berger for some reason didn’t answer the phone when I called last week so I’m still in limbo trying to find these bullets. Hoping someone might have some they would part with.

Lots of other bullets if you can't find the Bergers, what range are you planning to shoot live game at?

As well, what about shooting 280 ammo for practice, then you have fireformed cases. 50 cases of Peterson are gonna be $90-100. Midway USA has Norma 280 Rem ammo for $45 a box, that gets you 40 perfectly formed cases and 40 rounds of trigger time for the same price and no wait.

My problem is my smith needs dummy rounds for my build. I don’t currently have anything to fire form the brass or I would be going that route.

I plan on shooting out to 900yds on live game. I would like to stretch out to 1,500 on steel.

I see the picture now... Nosler shortened the traditional 280AI headspace, therefore Peterson brass would be made to that spec vs being able to use a 280 Rem case for a dummy round.
