This year the old faithful .270 Win has turned 100. I personally feel that this cartridge is the ultimate deer killer…whether you live in the east or west. I just finished my Tikka T3X build in .270 Win and it is a beauty! AG Composites Privateer, Swarovski Z3 3-10x42 BRH in Talley extra lows, MT Tactical bottom metal, and an ARCA/Pic rail from SRS. I also updated the trigger spring to lower the pull weight a bit. Total weight is just under 7.5 pounds so probably nearing 8# fully loaded. The only additions I’m thinking about are a sunshade and level. Three shots off the bipod gave me .66 MOA with Federal Fusion 130s this afternoon. Show us your .270 rifle…image.jpg

This was my Dad’s 270 Win. I took this buck with it two years after he passed. He always considered it his “long range” rifle because he felt confident with it out to 300 yards. I miss the old man.

I have one at the gunsmith right now, should be done April-May. It was originally planned to be a 280 Ackley but it just seemed right to build it into a 270 given the year.

I have a 270win barrel for my tikka hunting rifle. It wears a 6.5cm barrel most of the time for practice and hunting, but in theory it’s also a .270.

IMG_1752.jpegTook this buck with dad’s 270 win 3 days before he passed in 2022. Rifle is a ruger m77 mk2, it shoots 130 gamekings the best. I knew dad wasn’t going to make the week so I decided to take his rifle out on this hunt after a buck I had been after all season. Everything came together that day and this rutted up buck soaked up 2 gamekings while sniffing out a doe. I couldn’t think of a better way to send dad off.

I just looked through all the pics on my phone and I don't have one of my .270 that I've had since I was 15, 35 years. Since 2019 I've killed 1 deer and 2 black bear with it, but have used several different rifles since. To celebrate the 100 year anniversary, I think I'll get it threaded for my suppressor.

Not a great pic but the only one I got right now! My Weatherby Vanguard .270. Love this rifle and love the 270! She's only got 2 whitetail under her belt so far, but shoots sub MOA with Hornady 130gr SST factory loads! I'd like to redo the stock and add change to the box mag for it.

I had an M70 featherweight in 270 that I downed an antelope at 330yrds before this one that I regret selling! Some people here look down on the 270 but it just gets the job done!

Nice stick of wood. Well done. That sludge finish they use hides so many nice stocks. I've refinished a couple dozen and they always look so nice with a simple clear finish.

I used Glisten PC 2 part clear everywhere except the checkering which got tru oil. I recut the checkering which made a big difference.

Wish I still had my 270. Was my first rifle I purchased, a Ruger MK2. Ended up selling it while in college.

My dad had an original Abolt 270 that he bought when I was little. He got to where he couldn't shoot it due to having a PICC line placed and alot of health issues. He had me trade it for a 308 for him. I wish I had just kept it and bought the 308 for him. That was a light weight kicking SOB but it was accurate.

My Dad passed in 2004 and I don’t think there has been a day gone by that I haven’t thought about him and missed him. He was the finest man I have ever known. He wasn’t a .270 guy though. He was a 30/06 guy.

I was a .270 guy for years. I have more DRT kills with a .270 than anything else. 130gr Sierra Game Kings, launched at 3100 from a tang safety Ruger M77, were the proverbial lightening bolt on Texas Hill Country Whitetails. IIRC, I had thirteen consecutive DRT kills with my first .270, and no, they were not all CNS shots. The first custom I had put together for my son was also a .270. He used to just slay whitetails and pigs with that thing. I really don’t know why I don’t currently have one. I suppose I got enamored with high BCs. Now there’s high BC .277 bullets available so I really need to correct that…

Probably a Bighorn Origin action, maybe a Criterion shouldered prefit, McMillan Hunter stock, Triggertech Special, and a Tract Toric with their BDC reticle…
