The 257 bee is my favorite cartridge. I currently have an ultralight, an accumark and a deluxe, all left handed. I have killed more game with the 257 than any other round. I run the zeiss Z600 reticles and shoot them to 600 yards. I have used the 100gr ttsx, the 110 accubond and the 117 hornadys all with great results.

For deer or antelope, and since you own a 300 wm, I'd go 243, 6mm creedmoor, 6.5 creedmoor, 7mm-08, 308, etc. All have cheap factory ammo out there, all kick less, have less noise, longer barrel life, better resale, and competely adequate to further than most can shoot. Plus with cheap ammo, you'll shoot more.

Yes, I have owned, reloaded for and shot a 257.

My father took this one and another with a 257 Wby and $40/box Wby factory ammo. (Spire points, I think) Lung shots with massive trauma. Down within 30yds on both.

I wouldn't use those soft bullets on elk, but wouldn't hesitate on deer or antelope.

Use the spent cases to load some TTSX/TSX, Partition, or other premium bullet and I would take it elk or caribou hunting in a heartbeat.

Man talk about an old thread being brought back............

I own a 257 and 300 Weatherby. They are damn fine rifles. They are great for all the reasons listed. They suck for all the reasons listed. I wouldn’t get rid of the pair of truly 600-yard sub moa rifles for anything. I don’t shoot them much either because the ammo is painfully expensive. But I can hit a 6" plate at 600 yards every time with them if I dope the wind correct. With all that being said I’m not adding anymore propriarty chamberings to my stable anymore. Looking at you nosler.

Sportsman's warehouse has the .257 wby in vias camo with a brake for 799. Its a tack driver and kicks like my ruger .243. Really mild recoil. Drop a leupold vx5hd on it and you will have the same deathray results. Shooting sub moa at 250 yds.

What factory ammo are you guys using for the .257 on deer/antelope? My dad just won one at a banquet and he's looking for some ammo for it. I think we might just buy the Weatherby Select 100grs $40 a box isn't bad.

For deer the 257 wby is amazing. I have a Remington 700 sps chambered in 257 wby mag and it shoots lights out and crazy fast. I’m shooting 110 accubonds at an average velocity of 3610, and have hit steel out to 1200 yards. As for it being too heavy to pack is crazy, mine with a 4.5-14x50 mark 4 is around 9 pounds with bipod. Super fun caliber
