1775 Army June 14, Navy October 13, and Marines November 10!

General George Washington was appointed commander-in-chief of the army, Commodore Esek of the navy, and Major Samuel Nicholas marines!

Massachusetts militias were already engaged in rebellion with England having just fought at Concord and Lexington. The Continental Congress would soon write and sign our Declaration of Independence in 1776!!

Hail America, God bless us all!!

Who can trace their family back to 1775 and find soldiers that fought in the Revolution? Rebel or Loyalist? I found two in Pennsylvania that fought in 1777 for two years, found two passivit Quakers, one used his house for a hospital and another baked food for the troops in North Carolina. I think I might have another that was a Loyalist?

I can. My family goes back to around 1640. After that it jumps over to the Netherlands, England, Scotland. The earliest I have found is from 1390 in France. I have ancestors that came over on the Mayflower as well. They were all considered rebels. I’m even related to the Reverend John FitzRogers who was the first to translate the Bible from Latin into English before the KJV and was burned at the stake for being a heretic.

Here in 1625 on my fathers side. Had around a dozen relatives who fought at Lexington and Concord. My First Cousin, Thomas McKean, is a signer of Declaration Of Independence.

Regardless, the person who got here yesterday is as much of an American as me - maybe more so.

My wife can trace her bloodline back to 1707. Stephen Hopkins signed the Declaration of Independence. Actually back even further when she looks at his parents.

I can legitimately trace at least 3 relatives on my mom’s side to service records from the Revolutionary War. The earliest we can trace relatives back is late 1600s. Some of the were English and settled in southern Maine/Massachusetts and another part of the family consisted of early German settlers in Pennsylvania. It’s pretty amazing to consider all that my ancestors went through so that I could be blessed with the life I have in the greatest country in the world.

My ancestor was in the Virginia militia and went up to relieve Boonesborough during the siege.
