25 Saum load data

Just wanted to check back in here, after an initial scope issue, got everything back together and went to the range.
Loaded a lightish break in load of 57 gr H1000 under a 134 ELD-M factory seconds @ 2.95 in Hornady brass. Was good for an average of 2775 fps out of my 20" Benchmark. First two shots high were getting the scope sighted back in and then 13 shots. Overall, the 25 SAUM is a blast to shoot and I look forward to doing further load development.

Did some more load development today, N565 @ 60.5gr 2950fps 134 eldm in a 21" barrel, went to 61.5 gr and had heavy bolt lift. I may try n560 to see if i can squeeze some more speed out of it.

Got my first 100 shots through the new 25 Saum.
Barrel is 18” benchmark #4 7.25twist. Chamber job and action are Macbros.
McMillan stock and hand paint done myself
Snowy mtn rifles bottom metal and mag.
Trigger tech special
Chi-com scope.

So far testing has been with 135 lrht, 138 A tips and 145 uld from black hole bullets
N565 and N560 powders currently with H1000 in future development.
Got to 62 grains of 565 without pressure signs on the 135 and 138s. Speeds are just shy of 3000.
With the 145s I am seeing ejector marks with 59.5 grains and speeds around 2900. No pressure signs at 59 grains.
60 grains of N560 showed 3070fps but had ejector swipe.
I feel like it is over pressure but the ADG brass is hiding it until it’s really over pressure.
All in all, fun rifle to get light and short and remain shootable.

I’ve had a 25 SAUM for well over 20 years. I get over 3,600 with 100 BT’s and a healthy charge of H4831sc The rifle has a 10 twist shilen barrel at 26”. I put this together long before the heavy 25’s were available. It is accurate and deadly on Texas white tails.

Update on my SAUM:
Final loads are with 135 LRHT and 138 A tips.
Each final charge weight of N565 for each bullet repeated ES of sub 10 and SDs were under 4. Tested on 3 separate days in varying weather. Granted the sample sizes were only 5 shot strings for each.
138s are 2940fps
135s are 2970fps
No pressure signs on the ADG brass but according to GRT I am 2k psi over the max.
Photos are 3 seperate groups. 2 groups are Berger 135s with 2 seperate seating depts. 1 group is the 138 A tips.
This gun is a load of fun to shoot

That’s a good looking paint job!

Another 25 SAUM update:

Time got away from me somehow but I snuck out Friday after work for some very quick load development with 133 Bergers and H1000. I stayed on the low side of powder charge and tested three charge weights.

1000004549.jpg
I got very lucky and found that 57.5 gr H1000 with the 133 Elite Hunter would be just fine for my use. Loaded to 2.95" OAL.

Got out Saturday Evening and took a solid buck at 130ish yards. Hit was maybe a touch low, he made it 30 yards and was done. 25 SAUM success! Thanks very much everyone for the loading help! 1000004529.jpg
