.25 Creedmoor Barrel Twist Rates

I have been patiently waiting since last May for Seekins Precision to add the .25 Creedmoor to their list of caliber options. Now that the SHOT show is behind us, they now list it as available.

What has me concerned is that they have chosen a twist rate of 1-8" instead of the 1-7.5" rate that everyone else seems to be using. Heck, some even use 1-7". Am I worrying about nothing, or is this something I should seriously think about before plopping down possibly $3K on a rifle?

I may use 128-grain ELDX's to start with, but may very well have a friend help me handload something totally different. Nothing is set in stone.

What are your desires for the rifle? SAAMI specification for the twist is 7.5. I wouldn't want to spend Seekins money on a gun that wasn't twisted to or faster than SAAMI specification.

That's my thinking as well! I'm just disappointed after patiently waiting all this time, and sort of hoping that I'm just worrying about trivial stuff. My intended use will be whitetail hunting at sub-500 yards (but realistically 200 or less), and occasional recreational shooting at 500-1000 yards.

not sure why they’d go 1:8. Saami is 1:7.5, mine is 1:7. If you’re wanting to shoot the heavies out of it then you’d need the faster twist rates. If your only wanting to shoot lighter faster bullets them a 1:8 should work.

Look on the Berger stability twist rate chart and see what you come up with for your elevation , bullet ect .
