Working up some loads for Spring Bear with a .257 Roberts and a .25-06.

What bullet would you choose for a good all around that may also be used in the Fall for everything. I do not think my guns will stabilize the +130 grains?

Out of a 25-06 we’ve had very quick kills with 100 BT, 115 BT, 115 Partitions, 117 InterLocks, and 120 Fusions. Longest poke was 415, most of the rest under 350. Pick one that shoots well out of your guns.

Heading out for antlerless elk this Friday with my son shooting 115 BT’s out of his 25-06.

The only roosevelt elk I have killed died in it's tracks from one 100gr .257 tsx at 400 yards. It had a muzzle velocity of 3500. That bullet passed through both shoulders and exited. I'd expect the bob could get to 3200ish which would be plenty to keep me happy.

If your twisted 1:10, a 120 will be the upper limit in lead core. Id probably load a 100sp sierra, maybe a speer hot core, if elk are intended, maybe a barnes or a partition.

Im messing with a 25-06 atm, but im trying to cut coyotes in two... 75gr vmax is the starting point.

100ttsx and 110 accubond is what I have used. Both worked great for years.

I load the 120gr Sierra Gameking HPBT in my 25-06 and it is nasty on critters. Unfortunately Sierra stopped producing them, but by scouring forums I was able to acquire about 600 of them. Should last me a good long while.

If you can find some, I highly suggest them.

Literally the first trip to the range with my 25-06 weatherby vanguard getting a load figured out. I'll take .6 I suppose... 75gr vmax for coyotes and maybe cull does.

I’m a quarter bore fanboy. I have used 110 Accubond, 110 Tipped Game Kings, 110 ELDX, 115 Nosler BT, 115 Bergers, 117 Pro Hunters and Game Kings, and 120 Speers. They all worked. If I had to pick just one it would be the 115 Nosler Ballistic Tip. I’ve killed more with it than anything else.

My Roberts seems to like 100gr Nosler BT, 110gr Accubond best. I've killed stuff with about everything at one time or another. My current stash is actually 115gr partitions for it though.
My 25-06 has been an absolute hammer with 120gr hpbt Gamekings, and Hornady hp when they still made them.
