25-06AI Fire form vs resizing die?

I'm currently having a 25-06 rebarreled to a 25-06AI. I've never had an AI before. My question is. Is it better to fire form all of your brass? Or if I want to do a bunch, can I just use a resizing die? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm ignorant of this whole process. I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

A resizing die is needed, but will not form straight 25-06 brass into AI (unless you're talking about a hydro forming die like the Whidden). You need to shoot standard 25-06 in your rifle to form it to AI dimensions. AI gets bigger in almost every dimension, and a resizing die can only squeeze it down smaller.

OK. Thank you. I didn't realize that. I thought it just changed the shoulder.

This is an exaggerated drawing, but the blue is a standard case, red is fire formed case, black dotted line is after resizing. Getting from blue to black dot takes pressure from the inside to push the walls and shoulder out, then a resizing die brings it back in very very slightly so that it continues to fit in the chamber again.

The best brass you will be able to get is 270 Peterson and then Starline as a close 2nd.

Or there is Nosler factory 25-06 ammo that’s only about $32 if you want to save some time.
