I have a friend with a stock Rem 700 in 25-06. I am loading for him and have all the components except powder (was planning to use RL-22). It looks like I may not be able to obtain powder any time soon. My question is, I have a pound each of Benchmark, X-terminator and Win 748 on the shelf. I know these are more for 223 type calibers. Anyone ever use any of these in a 25-06 over light bullets? I am loading a Hornady 90 grain GMX. Thanks!

I mostly shoot IMR 4831 in my 25-06 rifles with hunting (not varmint) bullets. With the slightly lighter bullets IMR 4350 is my choice.

Two of those powders might be slightly on the fast side, but the Win748 might work out well. It’s burn rate is between Varget and H4350, which I have loaded extensively in 25 cal and done quite well with.

worst case scenario you can trade some powder around for something you need

Thanks, guys. The Hodgdon website actually has propellant available periodically. Was able to get some IMR 4955

Working up an IMR 4955 load for my .25-06 is on my summer to-do list.

So far I have been using IMR 4350 for 115's in my rifle and it does really well.

I am thinking that the newer Enduron powders will be on the shelf sooner than some of the others. When I talked to Hodgdon last year, they suggested I start switching over. If I understood the "suggestion" correctly, some of the older powders may be going away.

I use RL19, H4831, and H4350 depending on bullet weight.

Used RL19 with the 100 grain TTSX probably most similar to the 90 grain GMX your testing.
