I load 100gr Barnes for my brothers 25-06. 3250 fps using imr4831. Good performance on approx 15 animals over the years from antelope to cow elk. 1 shot Drt with minimal meat damage.

Generally speaking, Ballistic tips are great on deer. I've seen a couple deer taken with the 100gr from a 25-06 (my dad shoots one). Big holes, lots of internal damage. Penetration not an issue.I recently aquired an old 77v tang safety 25-06 and I’d like to get a load developed using a 100gr bullet. Particularly the nosler ballistic tip and the Sierra gameking.
I’d like to hear some first hand experience with these bullets on deer, especially at high velocity impacts (3000+). How was the penetration? Yes I am expecting meat damage and I’m ok with that.
You are correct. 110 gr. Accubond.I shoot the 115 BT in another 25-06 and it does great. I want to shoot woodchucks and deer with this rifle so I’d like to try something lighter and faster.
I wasn’t aware nosler made a 100 accubond only the 110. I’ve heard great things about the 110 especially in a 257 weatherby.
I shot a whitetail doe at about 100 yds using my .25-06 and 117gr Gameking. The deer was slightly quartering away and my shot was more forward than I intended. The bullet hit the front shoulder and the deer ran about 75 yds and dropped. There was no problem with bullet performance with regard to lethality but the front shoulder was a complete loss.
Man I’m tempted to try a 90 blitzking after hearing guys using a 85 ballistic tip.I've also used the 85 Nosler on a few deer. It was explosive, and turns their lungs into jello. It was a fast killer, just didn't shoot very well in my rifle.
Amen to that. A friend uses a 75 vmax is it’s disgusting. You need a shovel to scrape em up.75 gr vmax will turn most of a groundhog into mist. It's way mesier than I want for deer.
That’s what I’m after is speed. I have an old vx3 with the varmint hunter reticle on the rifle in question and the ballistics match almost perfect at full power for the 100bt at 3300. It will mainly be a groundhog rifle but I’d like the ability to shoot deer with the same load.Generally speaking, Ballistic tips are great on deer. I've seen a couple deer taken with the 100gr from a 25-06 (my dad shoots one). Big holes, lots of internal damage. Penetration not an issue.
Personally my preference would be the 115gr. But the 100gr works great if you want a pure speed demon.
No experience personally with the game kings.
That 117-grain Gameking is a killer.![]()

With the good reports I’ve heard about the 117 in this thread I may have to give it a try in my 700 long range.I shot a whitetail doe at about 100 yds using my .25-06 and 117gr Gameking. The deer was slightly quartering away and my shot was more forward than I intended. The bullet hit the front shoulder and the deer ran about 75 yds and dropped. There was no problem with bullet performance with regard to lethality but the front shoulder was a complete loss.
