243 and H1000

Has anyone fooled with H1000 in a 243 Winchester? Specifically using Hornady interlocks.

I just worked up some loads with 95 grain h1000 and hornady sst with good results. Should be good for the 100 grain interlocks as well.

I haven't used H1000 but I have used Retumbo and my 243 really likes Magpro with the 100-108 grain bullets

My best friend and I use only H1000 in our .243s. We both shoot 105s. You will find accuracy between 45 and 48 grains with most 100 and 105 grain bullets.

Group was shot Monday at 405 yards

My 6mm seems to like H1000 and 100 grain interlocks the best.

The Nosler data seems to be very similar with interlocks.

Old thread here but I’m still shooting my 243 and H1000. This barrel is getting to the end of its life , but it’s been a long one. I’d have to look but I think I’m right at 2000 rounds. By far the longest I’ve ever had a 243 barrel last.

Oddly enough my H1000 is “drying out” due to age and the burn rate appears to be getting faster. I have to keep dropping my powder charge to keep my 105s at 2950. I used to load 47.4 and I’m all the way down to 45.3. This is apparently something known with H1000 and a lot of the Vihtavuori powders.

24 inch barrel. However, my next one is going to be 20”. I should be shooting the new one by spring.
