Those that use these for a hunting bullet, what is the minimum effective fps for adequate expansion.

Those that use these for a hunting bullet, what is the minimum effective fps for adequate expansion.

I want a minimum impact velocity of 2000 fps, but that's my minimum for basically every bullet I use.

Maybe to the contrary of some others here, but I saw some pretty wonky shit with those bullets. Most notably, an antelope doe that I shot at 400 yards with my 6 CM at right around 3k MV. Bullet hit the X right behind the shoulder and she flopped, but I didn’t see an exit. Upon skinning and quartering I found the bullet next to one of the tenderloins… so it made a quick 90* turn and stopped.

I killed several antelope does with it and all flopped for sure, but exits were sometimes dramatic. Also shot one bighorn ram at about 330, he died quickly (10seconds or so) but that bullet did not exit.


Anymore I’d choose the 108 or 109 very easily over the 105, unless you’re shooting a 1-9” and can’t get those to stabilize.
