Posting for a buddy, he just asked for some help and I'm helping him dig through the drawt/harvest statistics to narrow it down...yes I realize the harvest data is only as good as the surveys, which are voluntary.

Where i can't help him is with guide recs. He's had a few bad experiences in the past (and some great ones too) where he felt the return customers got preferential treatment. I'm sure that's just the nature of the beast.

That said, who would be your go-to for 20+ points... did they treat you fairly well even as a first time client? He'd prefer to hunt west of I-25, but not totally opposed to a plains hunt if that's the best bet

Is he a resident or a non-resident, and what is he looking for in a hunt?
Sorry, he's NR...he hunts CO often, elk mostly or tagging along on buddies muley hunts as he's been building points. He's taken some fantastic bulls from around the state on his own. He's trophy chasing on this tag, not overly concerned with "the outdoor experience", on this particular hunt so if that means a plains hunt from a SXS, he won't be too upset. That being said, I think he'd prefer something more full-up wall tent, horses/mules, etc.

What class of buck is he looking to go after?

From what you describe his optimal hunt, I would contact Sanger de Cristo Outfitters or Whitaker Brothers Hunting.

Both are top notch and will put him on a smoker deer.

I haven't looked, because I couldn't afford it, but my guess is a SE Colorado outfitted hunt wouldn't take many points and would probably be better acquired by purchasing a land owner voucher.

I don't have a guide suggestion for solely inches of antler , but I'd looking a plains hunt and a mountain hunt as two separate years. The former via LO voucher and the latter via the draw.
