Looking for a 22lr smooth bore rifle or “garden gun.” Don’t really want to spend a lot to buy one of the new Henry’s or one of the old expensive collector guns. Kind of hoping for a savage mark 1 G would be awesome.

My son and I started shooting a 22 league and are getting our butts kicked by the smooth bore guys. Lol.

Thanks!

So about 30 some guys get together on cold winter Friday nights and shoot little X cards at 10yds with 22lr bird shot. If you win you get a prize off the prize table. Usually a selection of meat. Last week I took home bacon, hot sausage, and sweet sausage. lol

We do 5 rounds of 22 then we do 5 rounds of 12ga 7.5 shot at 25yds. Same size card. Also round 5 is a money round 100% payout whatever guys put in. It’s fun.

Interesting. So basically you’re just trying to get as tight of a pattern as possible?

Yes the tighter the pattern the better but what wins is closest pellet to the center. The card above my son one 1st place with. That was with a smooth bore 22 we borrowed from a guy.

Sounds like there’s a fair degree of luck to it. That would make things interesting. Sounds like a fun way to spend some winter nights. Hope you find what you’re looking for! The only smoothbores I’ve seen are new Henry’s.

What in the redneck, luck-based hell is this. I’d be so in haha. Sounds like a blast.

Yes, there is a lot of luck involved. There is also a kids round for the youngsters to shoot as well. A good many women shoot it too. The targets are set up on a trap station. You hang out inside the clubhouse between rounds while the rounds get scored and new targets put up. So a lot of BSing with friends wile doing a shoot. Really laid back and a good time.

This is a nice one on gunbroker. I've purchased from the seller several times. Looks like you have a fun league for all ages.
