WTB .223ai go gauge

I thought all the AI cartridges ran the same gauges as their standard counterparts?

This is my understanding. The datum line is the same for both, which makes it easy to shoot standard ammo and fireform.
I read on here, I believe, that you need an AI gauge and that a standard .223 go gauge is the No go gauge.

Either way, I have neither. 😆

AI (the computer brains) says Huntharder is correct and while AI cartridges can fire-form from factory ammo they do NOT utilize standard go, no-go gauges. or so I just read on the web...

Ackley Improved cartridges change the chamber geometry — most notably the shoulder angle (typically 40°) and body taper. Because of this:

  • Standard parent‑cartridge gauges are usually too long for an AI chamber.
  • AI GO gauges are shorter than the parent cartridge’s GO gauge.
  • Using standard gauges can result in incorrect headspace (usually excessive).

If that doesn’t work out for you I have PTG 223 ai go and no go gauges that I could rent you. Don’t want to part with them but I’m not going to use them in the near future so will definitely let you use them

I’m also looking to gauge the 223ai that I just spun on yesterday. Also down in AZ near the OP. Maybe whomever sends a gauge this way would let it make a redirect on its way home?

@JoeK I have one en route from @Pescetism I can mail it to you after my quick check, or possibly meet up depending on your location if it's ok by the owner. Pm me where you are at in the valley and we can make arrangements. Thanks @Ac338 for the offer, but I think we got it figured out.
