Old thread here but an FYI for anyone researching the trainer setup who owns a Mesa FFT 6.5 PRC. I bought the Tikka T3X 223 16” barrel 1:8 and had the barrel threaded by my local smith. Set the Tikka up with a SWFA 10x and the Mesa with a SWFA 3x9. They both come from the factory with the identical profile stock. On a scale they weigh in at 7lbs scoped, empty and within 1/10 of a lb of each other. The Mesa is heavier. No issues setting both triggers to 2 lbs and they feel identical. Someday I’ll upgrade stocks but for now I’ll spend money on ammo. They are both fun to shoot but sure is nice to work with the 223. Really awesome to have two rifles that feel almost identical. Thanks for all the great advice here.
