Curious, am I gaining any real advantage by adding a 22CM 80’s, when I am already shooting a 223 77TMK’s under 300 yards?

Chasing Texas whitetail and hogs. Under 300 yards with TBAC5 on a 18” 223 barrel.

I “want” the 22CM and can rebarrel an existing rifle for $850 ish but, am I really seeing a benefit? I understand the wind benefit at distance for the 22CM. Is the wind benefit there at 300 and does it create a larger wound channel than a 77TMK?

Is there an upside under 300 yards or should I spend the $’on more 223 ammo.

I have a donor rifle and scope sitting looking for something to do. However, I will only be shooting factory ammo.

You’re handcuffing the TMK…

Black Hills ammo gives me 2757 fps from 18” Tikka .223: 2120 fps with 5.5” drift at 300 yards

I was splitting the baby between BH and AAC. BH definitely hotter.

I'm running the 77TMK north of 2800fps from my 16" howa mini loading long. I defintely wouldn't stroke the check for a new gun at my handload or BH numbers. Probably not even at AAC speeds.
