I know I am late to the party. I can't find factory ammo for the 77TMK's. Would 69gn matchkings hpbt be a good alternative for the tikka .223?

They are fantastic, and should be very accurate for you. They are not in the same league as the 77tmk as far as performance on game animals, although I have killed deer with the 69smk.

Thanks. I am very happy with them for my practice ammo wise, just didn't know how they would perform on an animal. I will continue to look for the TMK's.

Hornady 73 gr ELDM is a good alternative and it's available all over the place. Likely won't penetrate quite as deeply as TMKs but plenty of dead animals in the .223 thread.

Speer Gold Dot/Fed Fusion 75 gr work well too but I think they're as hard to find as 77 TMKs.

thanks, that thread is so long now, its overwhelming.

Buddy of mine has killed some whitetail with the 69 SMK. IMO it’s worked “so far”. Just an assumption, but kinda what I think.

I’ve seen no real difference in 77 TMK and 73 ELDM from 17 to 125 yards on deer at 223 velocity.
If you can’t find enough TMK’s to suit you, do t discount the ELDM’s.
