Who here has been successful loading a 80gr ELDM in a .223 1-8" twist? What's your load and rifle?

I have 2 loads for my Tikka 1:8 .223 with a 18.5” barrel shooting the 80 ELDm; 23.7 grains of TAC in Starline brass, CCI 450, COAL 2.44” and 24.5 grains of Varget, same load data as above, otherwise. Both shoot ~2750 fps.

Thanks all. I have TAC and use it for my 75gr ELDM loads. I start load work up maybe this weekend in my Weatherby Vanguard 24" barrel 1-8" twist. Anyone else that has loads feel free to post. Terminal posts are welcomed also.

I did a short work up. You really can't call it a workup but it'll do for now. My barrel isn't broken in yet so 23.0gr TAC seated at 2.480" COL will due for 90 degree temps.

I shot the 23.0gr TAC load this morning with no pressure signs 67 degree temps. In 90 plus degree temps 23.3gr TAC showed mild pressure sign of slightly flattening the primer. Caldwell chrono says 2722 fps average. Both charge weights averaged .5-.75 inch 3 shot groups @ 100 yards. I still have less than 100 rounds down the barrel. I think since temps are cooling I may try 23.5gr TAC to see if groups improve. Shooting out to 800 yards and the elevation adjustment are off. Using Hornady's 4DPF app I'm .5 mils too high so I'll use the Garmin to check speeds once I get back to work on Tuesday.

It s gonna speed up after 100-150 rounds too!
Yup exactly! Well I couldn't take it so I loaded up 20 more @ 23.6 gr TAC. 79 degrees out and it's the sweet spot, well and abit too hot. ES 12 but one blown primer, just under a half inch.. The rest seemed okay, a little flattening. I think I'll do 23.1gr TAC and call it good until I get a couple hundred rounds down the tube.

What primers are you using, out of curiosity? The thicker cupped primers (CCI 450, Rem 7 1/2) may mitigate the blown primer issue.

Old white box Winchester WSR. I thought of that but there was some flattening of the primers so I'm approaching higher pressures. I'll break in the barrel and then revisit going for more velocity. I have CCI 450 but was going to save them for after the barrel was broken in.

I bet it would, too. I think XBR 8208 would work well, too, but also is very hard to find.
