If you really want a solid trainer get a xrs chassis and then a barreled bergara 22 action. You can still run the mags in that chassis and save money on the bmr r. This saves a few$ euro optic usually has them

Get whatever is the cheapest, reliable, version of THE SAME RETICLE AS YOUR BIG/COMP RIFLE. The idea of a trainer rifle is to duplicate, as closely as possible, your big/hunting/comp rifle right?
Then do that. I think as long as the reticle is the same then the rest kinda doesn't matter as long as you aren't trying to use a semi-auto as your "trainer" for a bolt gun or whatever.

I use a bergara b14r for benchrest competitions. I use a nightforce benchrest scope. The only thing i did to mine is put a trigger tech diamond in it. I picked up a bergara bmr-x this year and put a bixnandy trigger in it. Both really good rifles.
