Alright so I’m new to this reloading thing and with prices right now I’m trying not to order the wrong thing. Can’t decide between CCI 200, 250, 400 or 450 primers for a 22cm. Strictly coyote hunting rifle during the winter time in northern Michigan climate. Also out of a bolt gun. Powder undecided. Thanks in advance

CCI 450 w/no ignition issues whatsoever in sub zero F temps.

Using Alpha SRP brass, 1-8" rot, H4350.

Depends on brass used. SRP use 450. LRP, use 200. You may benefit with ball powders in very cold temps with 250.

Awesome I like to hear that, I have some 450’s but after doing some research I was hearing that large was better for colder weather so I was second guessing using the smalls since it’s typically below 32 when this gun will be shot

I use Fed 210M's and BR2's in my 22-243imp shooting a case full of RL26 slinging ELD-M 80 grainers and never had an ignition problem in any kind of weather.

So it seems like most are doing fine using either small or large. Being that its use may be in snow and rain is there any disadvantage of going with lrp over srp other than case life? Also is a magnum preferred or does it really matter?

Your biggest concern is your powder choice, do not run staball 6.5 or cfe. (No ball powders). I have had hangfires using both of these with cci 450s in below freezing temps. H4350 no issues at all.

Don't think you'll have any issues with H4350 and LR primers. I shoot well over 50gr H4350 in my 6-284 with Fed 205's and never had an issue.

Peterson SRP virgin brass, H4350, 88 ELD-M, ran experiment with Fed GM205M and CCI 450, same powder load.

The CCI resulted in 30 fps greater avg velocity but slightly higher Std Dev.

I'm at .5 grains higher than the UM load with Peterson LRP. The CCI 450 load basically matches the UM LRP load.

Think I'll up the grains with Fed GM205M (I have more than I'll ever need) and see what shakes.

Thank you for the info, that gives me something else to try. Have you gotten the 22cm on fur yet?

I’ve been using GM 205 match small rifle with H4350 and 75eldm down to -20 with zero issues.
