Some time back I watched a Vortex Nation Video about the 22 ARC, seemed impressive thou it appeared the guys may have some Hornady leanings, maybe not.
I have sense read that in an AR platform the gain over a 223/556 AR is minimal, maybe not worth it.
I bought a 22ARC upper with premium components from a friend that is going 300 Blackout for noise reduction. For 500.00 I thought I should give it a try.
I currently have a a RRA Var. 24" barrel with a Wylde chamber that shoots 77TMK decent, 77MK very well.

For the 22ARC I plan on using 88ELDM, 80 ELDX or handloads of 77TMK, whichever shoots best. Will this be a waste of time over the 223?

I've got parts set aside to build an 18" 22 arc.
It was a 6 arc but the gas 6 arc is so slow. Also the Shaw 6 barrel I had was garbage.

I like playing with new cartridges.

A 223 wylde would be more practical. Yes. But I like to tinker.

Well you're not shooting 62, 75, 80, or 88 grain ELDs or other similarly sleek bullets out of a Wylde AR so that is a difference from the start. You have better BC bullets at your disposal and you can push them faster. If within a few hundred yards, it might not be much of a gap but the further out you go the more noticeable that would be.

Run #'s on a 75 ELD at 200+ FPS faster than you'd push a 77 SMK/TMK and compare.

I’m in the process of finishing up a 22 ARC upper for next season QP and Precision Gas Gun series. Did I need it probably not, but I had enough upper parts sitting around all I needed was the barrel so figured why not.

I’ve heard rumblings of some saying it’s not needed because of companies like BlackArc using NAS3 casings. But imagine if those companies are working on 6mm ARC ammo it will be a matter of time before they start making 22 ARC.

I built a 22 ARC upper this past spring. I went with a 12.5" Shaw barrel, Geiselle upper receiver, CMT handgaurd, SA BCG and gas block (in "bleed off"), H3 buffer, and DD Wolf Hunter suppresssor. I'm pushing the Hornady Black Factory Ammo (75 ELDM) at 2,650 with sub MOA accuracy (7 round groups).

It is just an overall more foregiving and accurate cartridge relative the 223 in my experience. If you want a precision build to run heavy for caliber bullets, the 22 ARC is the easier way to go in my opinion.
