What’s your OAL? I swear 2.250 from hornadys data is too short. Leaves a lot of bullet in the case. I’m loading for a Howa mini. As long as the 88’s are, I’d love to run it out to 2.300”.

Why don’t you run it out to 2.3”
I’d like not to hit the lands. I’ve got some Grendel in a Howa mini run out to 2.3” with no contact but I know the chamber is different. I’m trying to get around measuring to where the bullet touches the rifling.

You are over thinking this. Make a dummy round seated to 2.3, color the bullet with a sharpie, chamber it. If it is engaging the rifling, you will see marks on the bullet. If not, load a few and try them. Book oal is really a guide, based on saami specs for each cartridge. In reality, over all length is only limited by magazine space and depth of the throat.

Maybe that’s why Hornady picked the length they did?

Try it and see what happens

Why are you trying to skip a 5 minute step that you wouldn’t need to repeat once you get it where you want it. The amount of time everyone has wasted here and you could have the numbers you’re looking for.
