I wanted to see if anyone knows in 2028 Colorado Sheep/Goat tags will go to all "Random" after you have the 3 weighted points? or will the higher weighted point holders still hold an advantage still? Thank you all for any input on this one.

Key 2028 Colorado Bighorn Draw Changes

50/50 Split Draw: For Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, 50% of tags will be allocated to high-point holders, and 50% will go into a weighted bonus draw (similar to Utah/Arizona) where every point gives you an entry.

Weighted/Bonus Point Combination: Existing weighted points and three-year preference points will be merged into a single point system.
Once-in-a-Lifetime Harvest: Harvesting a ram or either-sex bighorn sheep from 2028 onwards will make you ineligible to draw another male/either-sex tag for the same species in the future.

No More Point "Sandbagging": Hunters can no longer apply for "points only" while also applying for a tag; you must choose to either apply for a tag or apply for a point.

Desert Bighorn Specifics: The desert bighorn draw remains a 100% random draw with no preference points.

Waiting Periods: A three-year waiting period remains for individuals who have previously drawn a bighorn tag.

Does this mean when you apply and you don't draw you will no longer be awarded a point? Basically capping your points unless you decide to sit out and opt for just a point, to then apply with one more point in the following season?

You sure about that Clark? Pretty sure it’s going to a straight bonus point draw for MSG (except Desert sheep stays the same)

This for Rocky mountain bighorn sheep, moose and mountain goat.

Deer, elk and antelope appear to be changing to the 50/50 preference point/bonus point split draw. Depending on where you were in the point system, will depend on whether this will help or hurt you.

I think there is some confusion between the normal big game changes (changing to split draw) and that of the MGS (changing to bonus)
